SUMMARY:DIF3 Exhibition Dusseldorf.
DESCRIPTION:DIF3 exhibition in short.\n\n\n\nWhat is it? \n\n\n\nDIF3 is a visual art project\, established in 1994\, celebrating Irish landscape\, people and lore. The title DIF derives from Deutch-Irische-Freundschaft = German-Irish-Friendship. ADMISSION IS FREE. \n\n\n\nWho is it? \n\n\n\nThe participants of this project\, are Rod Coyne (painter)\, Jost Hiller (photography) and Anja Coyne (digital artist). \n\n\n\nWhere is it? \n\n\n\nStudio Hiller\, Burgplatz 12 – D40213 Düsseldorf\, Germany. Map link: https://goo.gl/maps/yJY4ZecZZdD4A5C16 \n\n\n\nWhen is it? \n\n\n\n2023: Fri 22nd Sept. 17.00h – 22.00h\, Sat 23rd Sept. 11.00h – 21.00h\, Sun 24th Sept. 11.00 – 18.00h. \n\n\n\nWhy is it?\n\n\n\nDIF3 is the third installment of a collaborative visual art project by three like-minded-artists and was made possible by the support of the Irish Government. This project is supported by Culture Ireland (Department of Foreign Affairs) with the aim of promoting Irish art in Germany. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRod and his Favorite Puffin.\n\n\n\n\n\nJust a small selection of Rod Coyne’s paintings heading to Germany.\n\n\n\nThe DIF project history.\n\n\n\nThe three founding members of DIF Anja\, Rod & Jost\, first collaborated with a visual arts exhibition in 1994. The Irish themed exhibition in Dusseldorf was a homage from afar and a visualisation of homesickness simultaneously. The three members expressed a shared passion through their singular artistic voices. This set up a riveting dynamic between the work exhibited. The pieces varied from joyous celebration to nostalgic longing depictions of the Irish landscape. \n\n\n\n\n1994 invitation to DIF.\n\n\n\n1994 DIF stands for Deutch Irische Freundschaft.\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIn 2013\, almost two decades later the thematic balance had shifted for the DIF project. Only Jost Hiller remained in Germany\, while the other two members had moved to Ireland in 2000. Rod Coyne had spent the intervening years delving deep into plein air painting with the Irish landscape his main anchor. Ahead of the DIF2 exhibition Hiller spent time in Ireland working along side Coyne documenting Rod’s process in the Wicklow mountains. These works were at the heart of the show. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n2013 Rod dreaming of Dusseldorf\, when he should be busy framing.\n\n\n\n2013 Rod Coyne has the exhibition is crated and ready for shipping. \n\n\n\n2013 Jost Hiller’s major relief as the crate arrives intact in Dusseldorf.\n\n\n\n2013 DIF2.\n\n\n\n2013 Rod Coyne hanging DIF2.\n\n\n\n2013 DIF2 Jost Hiller & Rod Coyne.\n\n\n\n2013 DIF2\, Rod & Anja Coyne demonstrate the Irish Craic. \n\n\n\n2013 DIF2 traditional Irish Music.\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIn 2023 DIF3 we will be marking a decade since the last exhibition. Rod Coyne will be showing Irish landscape created over the past 20 years demonstrating four fully fledged and distinct painting styles. Jost Hiller will be showing his latest photography. Anja Coyne expresses her German-Irish passion by enveloping the project in her singular take on Irish Lore and graphic design. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nIreland photography by Jost Hiller.\n\n\n\nIreland photography by Jost Hiller.\n\n\n\nIreland photography by Jost Hiller.\n\n\n\n“Seasprat at Finan’s Bay” 60x60cm\, oil on canvas by Rod Coyne.\n\n\n\n“Skellig Blush” 70x100cm\, oil on canvas by Rod Coyne.\n\n\n\n“Meeting of the Waters” triptych 3x 18x24cm\, oil on canvas by Rod Coyne.\n\n\n\n“Skellig Phosphorescence” 100x120cm\, oil on canvas by Rod Coyne.\n\n\n\n“Three Sisters” 50x70cm\, oil on canvas by Rod Coyne.\n\n\n\n“Skellig Arch” 80x80cm\, oil on canvas by Rod Coyne.\n\n\n\n“Scarlet Harvest” 50x70cm\, oil on canvas by Rod Coyne.\n\n\n\n“Avoca Downriver” triptych 3x 50x70cm\, oil on canvas by Rod Coyne.\n\n\n\n“Puffin Sound” triptych 3x 40x50cm\, oil on canvas by Rod Coyne.\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe venue Studio Hiller is otherwise a commercial photography studio of 25 years renown. SUMMARY:Painting Holiday 2019 with Avoca Painting School
DESCRIPTION:Rod Coyne hosts our Painting Holiday 2019 and this year’s will be 15th till 19th July at stunning painting locations around Avoca\, County Wicklow\, the heart of Ireland’s Ancient East. Early-birds avail of €100 discount by booking six weeks ahead. \n \nTo see our painting locations in a 5-day slide show click on the play button above. \nBook your ticket at the bottom of this page\n\n\nScroll down to book your painting holiday ticket or read our workshop itinerary and T&C’s. \n  \n \nRod Coyne’s painting demo depicts the river’s light and movement at Meetings of the Waters. \nPainting Holiday 2019 – dedicated me-time\nAvoca Painting School’s Painting Holiday 2019 allows you to develop your creative side in the midst of the Wicklow Mountains in the heart of the “Garden of Ireland”. The week is tailored for absolute beginners and experienced painters. Whether you’re starting out and would like to learn new techniques\, or have been painting for years and want to take it onto the next level this course is for you. Participants will take home much more than their new creations – working outdoors gives a natural feeling of achievement\, fulfillment and recharges the human batteries. \nPracticing professional artist Rod Coyne\, who has over 25 years experience working plein air\, will demonstrate all techniques. While painting everyone will be supported with tips and techniques relating to the use of various materials\, composition\, colour-mixing and brushwork appropriate to their level. Rod chooses each painting location with care and attention to the needs of his students. He is also keenly aware of the roll weather has to play and carefully factors this into each daily scene. In fact the chosen locations will provide plenty for any non-painters to see and enjoy. \nPainting at the Knockanree is just one location in Rod Coyne’s Painting Holiday 2019. \n\nBook your own Workshop Accommodation\nNot everyone books accommodation with us and we’re fine with that. Many Avoca Painting School students like to take charge and put their own weekend and holiday packages together. We have compiled a list of nearby overnight options to help you book your own workshop accommodation. \n\nPainting Holiday 2018 – Rod’s take\n \n“I love hosting the painting holidays because of the group dynamic which builds during the week. We look to create an informal\, friendly and fun atmosphere where the art seems to thrive. And it’s always fascinating to see how far students develop during a period of total immersion in paint. I see them leave brimming with confidence\, having moved from tentative mark making on Monday to attacking the canvas with gusto by Friday” – Rod Coyne. \n \n

SUMMARY:SEEING RED by Rod Coyne.
DESCRIPTION:SEEING RED is the title of an art exhibition featuring new paintings by Avoca artist Rod Coyne. Not only are these works new but they are the result of one year’s experimentation where Rod has been taking his red-palette to the extreme. Noelle Campbell Sharp will curate and display these new canvases in Dublin’s Origin Gallery. Richard Curran will launch the show which runs from 2nd -21st of March 2018. \nFeatured in Rod’s upcoming exhibition “Red Rock” 2017\, triptych 50x70cm x3\, oil on canvas. \nCoyne says\, “It’s a nervous time preparing to premiere new work\, particularly as I have really gone out on a limb this time. I have no idea how the public will react and I just hope that the limb in question doesn’t just snap off below me.” For images and the full SEEING RED story please follow this link: https://oldsite.avocagallery.ie/still-seeing-red/ \nFeatured in SEEING RED\, “Hooked on Red” was painted at Hookhead Lighthouse. \n#RodSeesRed \nRecently I decided to introduce radical amounts of red into my landscapes regardless if they were there or not. First off I swapped the greens of the landscape for a tonally similar palette of reds. Then I started replacing the blues of the sea and sky with a palette of reds. SUMMARY:Culture Night - Painting Demo & talk. #RodSeesRed
DESCRIPTION:Culture Night – Painting Demo & talk.\nRod Coyne invites you to his painting demonstration and talk based on his latest experimental work “Rod Sees Red”. During 2017 Rod has replaced all the greens of the landscape with a vivid palette of reds. The results are equally exciting and other worldly. This Friday you can see Rod slither out onto the thin ice once more as he attempts for the first time to apply the red-format to still life painting. All are welcome between 5.30 – 7pm to this informal and fun event\, admission is free. \n \n  \n#RodSeesRed\n“Recently I decided to introduce radical amounts of red into my landscapes regardless if they were there or not. First off I swapped the greens of the landscape for a tonally similar palette of reds. Then I started replacing the blues of the sea and sky with a palette of reds. Looking at the two versions I saw instantly that the second option still looked realistic\, just as if painted at sunrise or sunset. But where the land was red that took on a completely other worldly feel.\nCulture Night will be a first\, when I attempt to apply these landscape rules to a still life. Please join me for this live painting demonstration and chat. “\n– Rod Coyne.
